World Textile Day Scotland
The hugely popular World Textile Day returns to Bridge of Allan Parish Church for its 6th year on 16th June.
About World Textile Day Scotland
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
On Saturday 16th June there will be a return of this hugely popular annual show.
This is a fantastic day out for anyone interested in textiles of all kinds - African waxprint, Chinese indigos, Japanese kimonos and sashiko, Peruvian weavings and braids, Javanese batiks, Indonesian ikats, costume and so much more.
A bunch of specialist traders from all over the UK bring their goodies up to Bridge of Allan, near Stirling once a year for this very popular show.
The theme of this year’s World Textile Day is "Working Together"and our talks and exhibition will showcase lots of fabulous textiles from around the world, all made by teams of people - a family, a community or a whole village.
The special guest speaker this year at 11am is Diane Gaffney who will be showing some of her favourite textiles from around south east Asia and explaining exactly how many people have been involved in making each one! The results may surprise you!
At 2pm there will be a half hour talk followed by short sessions where three of our experts will bring and show "A Favourite Textile" from their collections.
We are open from 10 am until 4.30pm
Entrance is free to the market, the exhibition and there will be teas, coffees and cakes available from the local WI. Talks cost just £3 each or £5 for both sessions and can be booked on the day itself.
There are lots of lovely cafes nearby. Car parking is available very close by and the train station at Bridge of Allan is just a short walk away.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for World Textile Day Scotland are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
