About Easter Antics at The Engine Shed

Join us over the Easter holidays for our free workshops.

Copper Creations: 2nd & 6th April, Age 12+
During this activity, participants will learn about the use of copper in buildings and through using a traditional metalworking technique, where by a stencil is carved from wood and copper is pressed into this. They will create their very own copper creation!

The Wonder of Willow Spiral Box: 3rd April, Age 16+
Join us at the Engine Shed where, in 30 minutes, you will learn traditional willow weaving techniques and put this new found knowledge into practice, through making your own spiral box.

Printmaking Workshop: 4th April, Age 10+
Join us at the Engine Shed to learn about traditional print making; as once used in wallpaper manufacture!
During this workshop, participants will explore the Engine Shed and take inspiration from the textures and patterns of its traditional materials and create their own print using a variety of printmaking techniques.

Contemporary Textiles Creation: 5th April, Age 8+
During this activity, they will learn how to prepare a frame loom, the techniques of tabby and soumak weaving and how to add trims, tassels and pom poms to textiles.

Sledging Without The Snow: 7th & 12th April, Age 8+
Sledging is the traditional skill of running a template over plaster to create decorative features such as coving. Go inside and look up at many of the buildings in Stirling to see this! Learn and have a go at this traditional skill.

Build it High and Bridge the Gap: 9th April, Age 7+
Support a brick using as little paper as possible, build the tallest tower you can using straws and rubber bands and build your own bridge out of spaghetti and see if it can support a car!

Photography Day: 10th April, All ages
During the three workshops, you will learn the basics and then be given a chance to use skills these inside and outside of the Engine Shed. At the end of the workshop, there will be an opportunity to discuss your images with fellow photographers!

Traditional Buildings Time Capsule: 11th April, Age 4+
Travel in time and learn about facts and the folklore of traditional buildings.
Participants will create their own time capsule, telling the story of their past and present ready to be hidden at home!

The Wordsmiths Forge: 13th April, Age 12+
Are you living with the next Gaudi or J.K. Rowling? Fuel their imagination with our workshop merging the written word with traditional skills and materials. Join award-winning poet Christie Williamson in the treasure trove of the Engine Shed to build pieces of writing ready to stand the test of time.
