The University of Stirling is pleased to welcome you to a literary event with Anne Enright, author of The Gathering which won the Man Booker Prize in 2007.
At this special event, you will have the opportunity to hear Anne Enright read extracts from her book before taking part in a question and answer session. She will also be signing copies of The Gathering after the reading, and the book will be available to buy on the night.
The Booker Prize Foundation’s Universities Initiative is an international scheme designed to encourage students to read contemporary fiction. Funded by The Booker Prize Foundation and the University of Stirling, each new first year undergraduate student will receive the gift of a free copy of Anne Enright's acclaimed book, which won The Man Booker Prize in 2007.
The nine surviving children of the Hegarty clan gather in Dublin for the wake of their wayward brother Liam. It wasn't the drink that killed him - although that certainly helped - it was what happened to him as a boy in his grandmother's house, in the winter of 1968.
The Gathering is a novel about love and disappointment, about thwarted lust and limitless desire, and how our fate is written in the body, not in the stars.
This event is free to attend and is open to all but we ask that you please register online in advance via the Eventbrite link.
Venue: Logie Lecture Theatre
