Stone Setting Weekend Workshop – June 15th
Home / Jewellery Making Classes / Stone Setting Weekend Workshop – June 15th
Gemstones have been used in jewellery for thousands of years, creating a colourful contrast to the metal in which they are set.
In this intensive weekend workshop students will learn basic stone setting techniques that will allow them to incorporate gems into their jewellery designs taking their work to the next level.
The two stone setting techniques covered in this class are:
– A simple rub over setting, which involves creating a bezel and encasing a cabochon-shaped stone. This is a key technique for setting stones suitable for all types of jewellery.
– A tab setting – prongs cut from a single piece of metal, then folded over to secure an object. No heat is required, so they’re perfect for holding stones or other non-traditional materials.
All materials and tools need to make your project are provided however you are also welcome to bring your own stone. It should be a cabochon stone – flat on the underside.
9.30am – 4.30pm with a lunch break. Lunch is not provided but you are welcome to bring a lunch to eat in the studios or we can recommend places nearby to buy a lunch.
**Please note: classes may be cancelled due to lack of attendees. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified the day before the class is scheduled**
