Falkirk Wheel to Antonine Wall Circular

About Falkirk Wheel to Antonine Wall Circular

Come and walk with the Ramblers on a short circular walk from the Falkirk Wheel at the re-opening of the canal. The Lowland Canal Carnival will see a flotilla of steam boats, yachts, narrowboats, rowing boats, canoes and kayaks travel through the canal over the weekend of the 24th to 26th May. A trio of public events will also take place on the banks of the canal at The Falkirk Wheel.

The Falkirk Wheel is an amazing piece of engineering, constructed for the Millenium to take canal barges up a vertical height of 80ft from the Forth & Clyde Canal to the Union Canal.

Starting at the Wheel we walk to, arguably, one of the best sections of the Antonine Wall and Rough Castle Roman fort. The return to the Wheel is through woodland. Easy walking with good paths throughout.

Distance - approximately 3miles
Walking shoes or trainers and waterproof clothing advisable.
Either contact the Walk Leader or just turn up.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Falkirk Wheel to Antonine Wall Circular are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
