SCHOOLGIRL CELEBRATES AFTER WINNING STIRLING REINDEER TRAIL
A Stirling schoolgirl has been named the winner of this year’s festive Reindeer Trail.
Chloe MacCallum, 13, won an iPad after finding all 20 reindeer, designed by local schoolchildren, on the Trail at shops and businesses across Stirling.
The annual initiative is organised by Go Forth Stirling, who run the city’s Business Improvement District, and Chloe and her mum Jacquelynne were presented with the prize at King Street store Made in Stirling.
Jacquelynne said: “This is a great initiative and we’re so pleased Chloe was named the winner.
“She and her friend Carys spent a wet Sunday walking around Stirling tracking down all the reindeer and had a great time.
“She also took part in the competition last year and it’s a challenge she really enjoys doing.
“I think the Reindeer Trail is an excellent idea because it gets children out and about doing something interesting and helps local businesses by encouraging people to visit Stirling’s shops.”
Chloe, who attends Stirling High School, was the first name picked out at random by Go Forth Stirling Project Manager Mags Fenner from around 150 correctly completed entry forms.
Ms Fenner said: “We’re delighted the Reindeer Trail has once again proved a great success with the schools who designed the reindeer, the businesses who hosted them and the families who enjoyed tracking them down.
“We expanded the Trail this year to take in the Forthside area and it was lovely to see families exploring the whole of the city to find all the reindeer.
“The reindeer created by local school pupils were fantastic and we were pleased to see how schools once again embraced the idea and came up with unique designs and decoration.”
The collection of 20 life-size reindeer featured in the windows of a range of Stirling businesses during the run-up to Christmas creating a festive atmosphere and fun for families.
Participants were encouraged to pick up a map and track down all 20 reindeer hosted in shops, cafes and attractions across the city.
The Reindeer Trail ran throughout the festive season and entrants were also asked to vote for the Best Reindeer Design.
Meanwhile, the reindeer have returned to their secret location but will fly into Stirling again later this year for the third Reindeer Trail.
The Stirling Reindeer Trail is organised by Go Forth Stirling in a bid to increase footfall around the city centre.
The business-led organisation represents close to 400 local traders and is run by Ms Fenner and her team with a key objective of delivering projects and services which improve Stirling’s retail environment for businesses, shoppers and visitors.
