About Traditional Paper Marbling Workshop
Join us for a colour filled paper marbling workshop in our sunny Dunblane craft studio.
Paper marbling is the 1000 year old craft of printing using pigments floating on water, and has a fascinating and varied history. Marbling is highly therapeutic, creative, and rewarding – and best of all there is really no ‘wrong way’ to do it. During this workshop we will learn about the crafts’ fascinating history, then practice a range of traditional and modern day marbling techniques, using high quality paper and gouache paints. You will come away with a stash of your own marbled paper creations. We’ll also give you a basic guide to marbling so that you can carry on crafting after your workshop!
During this 3 hour workshop you will learn:
– A bit about the history and uses of this 1000 year-old craft
– To create a traditional marbling medium using seaweed
– To manipulate paints and materials to produce some beautiful effects
– How to print and preserve your marbling
– About other surfaces that you can apply marbling designs to.
