This guided walk provide a nourishing and invigorating day out on one of Scotland's finest long-distance trails: beautiful landscapes, great company, and a warm drink at the end.

About this Skylark Guiding event:

We'll follow an 11km/ 7 miles section of the famous West Highland Way visiting the small summit of Conic Hill above Loch Lomond on the way.

From Drymen we'll climb gently through a section of forestry before crossing moorland to reach Conic Hill. The dazzlingly beautiful views from here of Loch Lomond and its islands are a highlight of the West Highland Way. We'll then descend to Balmaha where we'll end our walk in the Oak Tree Inn with a hot drink. We'll return to Drymen using the local bus service.

Start/finish: Drymen. Exact location provided after booking
Duration: 4.5-5 hours plus travel back to Drymen
Ascent: 400m (includes short climb up to the final summit of Conic Hill which can be missed)
Distance: 11km/7 miles
Terrain: forest track and hill path, some steps, rocky path down to Balmaha

What to expect:

A gentle walk with other women, lots of chat, fresh air, muddy boots, and a feeling of satisfaction at the end of the day.

About your guide:

The walk will be guided by experienced and qualified guide Gaby Macbeth of Skylark Guiding Ltd. Gaby will take care of route finding and navigation, managing the pace so that everyone is comfortable, and making sure everyone is safe. What to wear and bring:

Please wear comfortable walking shoes, leggings or gym trousers, thermal layer or top, fleece or jumper.
Wear or carry in a backpack bring a waterproof jacket (it doesn't need to be expensive but it needs to keep the rain out!), gloves, hat, spare top (such as a fleece), plus food and drink, any medication and sanitary products.
If you have them you could also bring waterproof over trousers.
If you don’t have a piece of kit, please get in touch in advance and we’ll see if we have a spare you can borrow for the day.

Itinerary:

Meet at Drymen (location confirmed after booking) at 8.50am for a 9am departure.
The walk will take up to 5 hours, with breaks, and end at Balmaha Inn for a hot drink (not included so as to give you the option).
We'll return to Drymen on the local bus which departs at 15.00 (arrives Drymen at 15.08).

Full price: £25.00 Reduced rate* £15.00. (Please note that hot drinks/food are not included.)
*To make this event more accessible to women currently on lower incomes there is the option to book a reduced rate ticket. You can choose what you pay based on your circumstances – you won’t be asked for any proof or ID.
