TRIP, born out of the vibrant Glasgow traditional music scene, unite the kindred Celtic traditions of Scotland, Ireland, Northumbria and the Isle of Man.

Their trademark sound is powerful, driven and distinctive and effortlessly blends a top-line of Accordion, Fiddle, Flute and Vocals with Piano, Guitar, and Bodhran to produce an exciting take on folk music.

Their dynamic arrangements feature a blend of traditional melodies and self-penned tunes and songs, and celebrates the band’s roots in tradition, whilst showcasing their contemporary, cross-genre influences.

The impressive line-up features 6 young musicians at the forefront of Glasgow’s traditional music scene: Michael Biggins (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician2021 & The Canny Band), Tiernan Courell (All-Ireland flute champion), Isla Callister(HEISK), Alasdair MacKenzie (LAPWYNG), Rory Matheson (FARA) and Craig Baxter(GNOSS).

2022 saw the release of their debut album ‘A Drop for Neptune’. The record, which is a culmination of four years of musical kinship, was written during a time of uncertainty and isolation that was brought about by the global pandemic. ‘A Drop for Neptune’, which was recorded by Ross Saunders at Glo Worm Recording Studios, draws inspiration from the sea – something that connects and shapes us all.

Having performed all over the UK and Ireland, including internationally acclaimed festivals such as Celtic Connections, Orkney Folk Festival and Heb Celt, TRIP have been successful in taking their music to a global stage (Vilj and iFolk Festival and Festival Inter celtique de Lorient).“the music is explosive, head-turning, yet light in the hand”-Irish Music Magazine “a mighty Celtic cocktail”-At The Barrier “one to watch”-Songlines
