A one day course in Mugdock Country Park for women who want to grow their confidence using maps and compass for navigating in the countryside, on paths and tracks. By the end of the day you can expect to feel much more confident understanding and interpreting maps, and be ready to plan and implement a walking route of your own.
You’ll learn how to:
– orientate the map using a compass,
– plan and implement simple routes,
– measure distance on the map and on the ground
This day is suitable for those who have not used maps and compasses before.
If you are already confident using maps to find your way on paths you might be interested in a Level 2 course. More information can be found here: skylarkguiding.co.uk
– relate prominent landforms such as large hills and glens to the map
Additional Dates: 01 November 2025
