Celebrate a number of musical anniversaries with music performances by the multiple groups of Dunblane Cathedral Handbell Ringers, including Abba's "Waterloo" (50th anniversary of its Eurovision Song Contest win), "Moon River" (centenary of birth of Mancini), "Theme from the Moldau" (200th anniversary of the birth of Smetana), Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" (200th anniversary this year of its premiere in 1824), "Scots Wha Hae" (750th anniversary of the birth of Robert the Bruce), "Locus Iste" (200th anniversary of the birth of Bruckner), "Pavanne" (centenary of the death of Faure), "Keep the Home Fires Burning" and "Keep right on to the end of the road" (110 years since start of World War One), "O Mio babbino caro" (100th anniversary of the death of Puccini), Engelberg (100th anniversary of the death of Charles Villier Stanford), as well as "Welcome to New York" by Taylor Swift, and "What was I made for" by Billie Eilish, from Barbie
All performed on Scotland's largest range of handbells. So come along, sit back and enjoy the sweet sounds and synchronised movement of sparkling handbells swishing through the air!
Dunblane Cathedral's handbell ensembles have an international reputation and have appeared many times on television. Handbells are one of the world's oldest musical instruments yet the handbells used today are sophisticated precision instruments which produce a beautifully rich sound.
