Red kites were once Britain’s most common bird of prey. By the early 1900s they had been wiped out in Scotland and England after years of ruthless persecution. When reintroduced kites began to gather on their farm, Tom Bowser’s family decided to turn the estate into a safe haven, feeding the birds and inviting the world to see them, learn their history, and fall in love with them. Tom explores the past, present and future of kites in Scotland, shares stories from the Argaty Red Kite project, and asks whether these beautiful birds represent the UK’s greatest rewilding success.
