ALASTAIR SAVAGE - FIDDLE
with GREGOR BLAMEY - PIANO/ACCORDION
and JOHN SHEDDEN - NARRATOR
An Idyllic setting underneath the Campsie Fells to enjoy a special afternoon concert ahead of Burns night.
Fiddle melodies inspired Burns across his life. He learned tunes from his native Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire, found others on his Scottish travels, and picked them up from published collections, including those by famous fiddlers Niel Gow and William Marshall.
This performance combines the outstanding talents of leading contemporary fiddler Alastair Savage alongside Gregor Blamey (piano/accordion) with legendary actor John Shedden letting us hear what Burns had to say about these tunes in his song notes, tour journals, commonplace books and letters.
Concert duration 1 hour approx.
