About Silver Clay Beads Masterclass
Level: Intermediate, some previous PMC experience
In this one-day Silver Clay Beads Masterclass Masterclass we’ll explore hollow forms and different methods of constructing beads using PMC. Some previous experience of working in Precious Metal Clay is essential and this is the perfect session for all the PMC enthusiasts out there! The clay-like properties of PMC make it perfect for modelling 3D forms that would be impossible to achieve in sheet silver. We’ll look first at different forming techniques, then once the clay is dry we’ll explore the use of carving and engraving to add finer details. This process allows you to create deeply textured beads in silver without the need for casting. Throughout the day, guided by practical demonstrations, you will produce a small number of silver beads and will have the skills to be able to take the techniques further and incorporate them into your jewellery-making repertoire. If you’re happy with your finished beads on the day we will provide earring wires and chains to turn your samples into finished pieces of jewellery.
