This day in the Ochils is for anyone who has done a navigation course and wants to go over the following skills in a real life setting: plan and implement a simple route, estimate distance and duration, take and follow a bearing from the map and from the ground, use techniques such as aiming off, practice relate prominent landforms from the ground to the map and vice versa.
After an initial chat to see what people want to brush up on, we'll decide on a route for the day and take it in turns (or in pairs) to lead sections of the walk, reminding ourselves as we go of the tools and skills we can use to help us navigate to our destination. This will be a supportive and social day in the hills, designed to boost everyone's confidence and set you up for the hill walking season ahead.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
