About Linus:
With killer reviews of his new work appearing everywhere (not least The Quietus!), GH are thrilled to welcome Linus Vandewolken all the way from Belgium for his Stirling debut. Linus plays modern folk compositions on a forgotten instrument: the HOMMEL.
With a very tender love for a handmade, family built, hommel, LINUS VANDEWOLKEN breaks out of the narrow framework in which the instrument is often handled, pushing the limits of it's possibilities. The additional appearances of self made flutes and shakers lead to a series of dynamic moments: from soothing refections to energetic epiphanies. Behind this nom de plume is the maverick performer, potter, printer & artist McCloud Zicmuse. An immigrant in Belgium, McCloud developed a deep love for some of the customs of this new-found homeland: a specific kind of vertical archery (‘staande wip’), celebrating carnaval, aging geuze-beers, and not in the least: as Linus Vandewolken, playing the HOMMEL.
About Adam:
Adam Stafford is a Falkirk-based songwriter, composer and filmmaker known for his emotionally charged live performances and genre-blurring approach to music. His work blends post-punk, minimalism, folk and experimental soundscapes, often built around layered vocals and looping techniques. A former member of Y’all is Fantasy Island, he has released a string of critically acclaimed solo albums including Fire Behind the Curtain and Trophic Asynchrony. Stafford is also a celebrated filmmaker, with award-winning shorts that complement his creative output in music.
