Stirling celebrates the return of major live music events
Almost 10,000 people poured into Stirling for the Big Top - Under Canvas festival last weekend as the city reaffirmed its status as a first-class events destination.

Scottish pop favourites, Texas, kicked off a two-day celebration of music at Stirling City Park on Friday night (19 Aug).
Sharleen Spiteri and the band produced a spellbinding show, featuring some of their biggest hits, in front of a sell-out crowd, with support from Lucy May Walker and Kevin Davy White.
On Saturday, fans enjoyed performances from alt-rock legends Big Country, legendary singer-songwriter, Eddi Reader and pop-folk star, Sandi Thom, before Celtic powerhouses, Skippinish raised the Big Top roof with a high-energy and electrifying set.
Convener of Stirling Council’s Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, Cllr Gerry McGarvey said: “It was absolutely fantastic to have large-scale live events back in Stirling following the disruption caused by the pandemic.
“Texas, Skippinish and all the bands and performers were incredible, and there was an amazing atmosphere among the crowds under the Big Top.
“Stirling City Park showed again why it’s such a superb venue for major events and big crowds, with its accessible location for people walking from the city centre, and Stirling Castle providing a stunning backdrop to a celebration of Scottish music.
“On both days there was a tremendous buzz in the city centre as revellers flooded in from across Scotland and beyond, visiting our bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, which will have come as a welcome boost in these challenging times.
“The early feedback from attendees and the bands has been hugely positive, and it fuels us with renewed impetus to bring more big names and high-profile events to Stirling City Park and the other great venues in the city.
“A big thanks to the promoter LCC and everyone else who helped organise this special summer show which has reaffirmed Stirling’s status as a first-class events destination.”
Stirling will host more major cultural events over coming months, starting with the return of the hugely popular Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival in September for its 10th anniversary.
In October, the city will also stage the prestigious Scottish Album of the Year Award ceremony for the first time at the Albert Halls Stirling.
