Places available at Stirling based youth music programmes
Places are still available at three out-of-school music programmes for Stirling’s young people. Complete beginners to intermediate and advanced musicians are welcome.

Tolbooth Jazz, Tolbooth Trad and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Inspire Traditional Music all operate through funding from the Youth Music Initiative and are free to attend for pupils who attend Stirling Council schools.
Tolbooth Jazz and Tolbooth Trad are based at Tolbooth Stirling on Monday evenings and open to those aged 9-18. Complete beginners to intermediate and advanced musicians are welcome.
The group-based music workshops are a social and fun way to learn music and provide an opportunity for young people to meet other musicians.
The RCS Inspire Traditional Music sessions are held in collaboration with Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Conservatoire, offering children in P4 and P5 free music tuition at McLaren High School on Saturdays.
New students will begin on tin whistle, moving onto accordion, bodhran or fiddle as they progress.
Children and Young People Convener, Cllr Margaret Brisley said: “The Youth Music Initiative has removed barriers for our pupils to access music tuition and are a wonderful way for them to pick up new skills and socialise with like-minded peers.
“These free programmes have benefited children and young people in the Stirling area for 20 years so please get in touch if you would like your child to get involved.”

Launched in 2003 through Creative Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government, the Youth Music Initiative aims to break down the barriers to music making by offering free access to children and young people across Scotland
Participants in the YMI have gone on to work within the music industry, work as professional musicians or now teach music themselves, some as part of YMI programmes.
