The free event at Stirling Castle will be an opportunity for organisations to showcase the incredible creative work that they do through interactive demonstrations and fun activities, as well as showing how people can get involved with them all-year round.
It will be open to the public who will be able to come along and get a taste for what’s on offer across the area via a ‘walk through’ style format with indoor and outdoor activities.
Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey said: “We want to bring Stirling Castle to life with an exciting array of interactive activities, performances and displays as we celebrate the area’s remarkable cultural offering.
“This unique event will be an opportunity for the public to engage with Stirling’s rich cultural story over the past 900 years, and to highlight the incredible talent, dynamism and diversity of our creative organisations who are helping to shape Stirling’s future.
“Stirling is renowned for its culture and creativity and we would love as many organisations and businesses in this sector to get involved. For more information and to register your interest, please head to www.yourstirling.com/stirling-900-culture-night/ before the deadline of Wednesday 12 February.”

Stirling 900:
A steering group that includes organisations, businesses and individuals from across Stirling has been formed to oversee and deliver the events programme for Stirling 900.
The group membership includes: Stirling Council, The University of Stirling, Stirling Voluntary Enterprise, Go Forth – Stirling BID, Scene Stirling (representing a range of cultural organisations), Stirling City Heritage Trust, Historic Environment Scotland, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum, Stirling District Tourism, Festival and Events Forum, and The Marches.
Historical background:
Is thought that the original creation of the burgh of Stirling by David I was given as a verbal instruction so no written record exists. The earliest charter is held by Stirling Council archives issued by David II in 1360 that confirmed an earlier charter of King Alexander II given on 18 August 1226.
Burgh status elevated an existing settlement into something more distinctive. The king granted his burgesses or freemen privileges. These included: holding their land and property directly from him, having the right to elect a council, holding their own court, levying local taxes and holding markets.
The Stirling 900 celebrations will take place between April 2024 and April 2025, to coincide with the coronation of King David.
