EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS FOR CROWDFUND BACKERS
A series of exclusive workshops and tours have been organised for supporters of the 2019 Stirling Photography Festival Crowdfund appeal.
Backers can learn tricks of the photography trade in a unique workshop with top newspaper photographers in return for a pledge to the Crowdfunder.
There is also the chance to go behind-the-scenes in an exclusive tour of the Macrobert Arts Centre by donating to the fund.
As well as an opportunity to work alongside Jamie Simpson, staff photographer with the Herald group, and internationally renowned freelance photographer Peter Sandground. The two will be hosting a workshop on the 23rd of June at the new Creative Stirling Hub on 44 King Street as part of the Crowdfunder Rewards.
The organisers of Stirling Photography Festival launched the rewards-based Crowdfunder in a bid to secure funds for this year’s month-long August event.
It follows last summer’s successful inaugural festival and funds collected will be reinvested in budding local talent and artists who will be supporting the 2019 initiative.
The team has already received generous donations from Go Forth Stirling Business Improvement District and CitNow – plus Stirling Council match funding.
Janie Meikle Bland, director and founder of the festival, said: “We’re thrilled that we have had such generous donations from these big sponsors. It shows us that people really want to see this Festival happen.
“A big thank you also goes out to all the early pledgers who have collected rewards and put in a donation.”
Nadia Schneider, a member of the creative team, said: “We’re excited to have so many unique rewards on offer from local cultural partners and artists.”
“It’s an honour to be working alongside well regarded photographers such as Jamie Simpson, Peter Sandground and Martin Shields.”.
Among the series of rewards for pledgers are limited-edition prints by artist David Galletly, an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Macrobert Arts Centre led by artistic director Julie Ellen and a Glassblowing and photography workshop at the Bridge of Allan studio of Angels' Share Glass.
Other rewards include a private view of the University of Stirling art collection with art curator Jane Cameron and an architectural photography masterclass with Historic Environment Scotland’s in-house photographic survey team.
Ms Schneider added: “We have some amazing rewards to offer our supporters.
“The workshops are open to people of all abilities and will each be accompanied by a professional photographer.
“There is something for everyone, so if you have any birthdays, anniversaries, or weddings coming up, or would like to treat yourself to one of these experiences check out their Crowdfunder at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/spf19
“With less than two weeks left of the Crowdfunder, the Creative Team urge you to quickly collect Rewards which are unique to the Festival’s Crowdfund Appeal and will not be available once it closes.”
