RADIO PRESENTER BROADCASTS LIVE FROM STIRLING’S LANDTRAIN
A radio DJ is set to present his daytime show from Stirling’s popular Landtrain next week in a campaign aimed at promoting the city and its attractions.
Central FM presenter Brian Woolfson, known to his fans as Woolfy, will broadcast live from the train on Monday July 1 with local business owners and residents interviewed on air.
The outside broadcast, during the first week of the school holidays, will also mark the relaunch of the Landtrain for the summer.
The tourist attraction, run by the city’s Business Improvement District, Go Forth Stirling, takes passengers around the city centre and up to Stirling Castle.
Mags Fenner, Manager of Go Forth Stirling said: “We’re looking forward to a busy summer in Stirling with tourists and local people making good use of the Landtrain to get around.
“The Central FM broadcast will be a fun experience for people and a great opportunity to get the message out about Stirling and what a fantastic place it is to live in and visit.
“Brian will be travelling around on the Landtrain and highlighting all the shops, restaurants and historic attractions we have on our doorstep as well as talking to local people.”
The Central FM show will feature music, chat and four giveaways with prizes including a family pass for Stirling Castle and a Thistles voucher.
There will also be interviews with local business owners during the programme which runs from 10am until 2pm on Monday.
Another radio presenter, Tony McQue, will then return to host a second show live from the landtrain at the end of July.
Central FM Commercial Manager Ann Marie Miller said: “This is a campaign aimed at promoting Stirling and reminding people what a fabulous destination it is.
“People can use the landtrain to get around the city which has a fantastic mixture of high street and independent shops, lots of leisure activities and great restaurants.
“There’s no need to travel to Edinburgh or Glasgow when we have everything here for a great day out.”
The Landtrain picks up passengers in Murray Place then runs up to Stirling Castle via King Street, Spittal Street, St John Street, Castle Wynd and the Castle Esplanade.
On the return journey it runs via Broad Street, St Mary’s Wynd, Queen Street and Barnton Street.
There are Landtrain stops en route to the Castle at St John Street, near the Old Town Jail, and on the return journey at Broad Street using the bus stances.
Customers are charged £1 each way for the train – free for children under 5 – and it will run daily throughout the seven-week school holiday period approximately every half hour from 10am until 4pm.
Meanwhile, improvement plans for the Landtrain include an extended route taking in the Forthside area, a GPS Commentary system highlighting landmarks and businesses around the route and a map for passengers.
Part of the five-year Go Forth Stirling Business Plan, the Landtrain was introduced during Easter 2018 with the aim of operating through the main tourism months and providing a key link between traders and the Castle.
A dedicated Facebook page has been set up for the attraction with information about running times and more.
