Joyland is a 2022 Pakistani drama film written, directed, and co-edited by visionary filmmaker Saim Sadiq.
It is a complex yet soothing tale that beautifully weaves together the lives of Haider, Mumtaz, and Biba—three individuals who refuse to conform to patriarchal norms denying their right to self-actualization.
Instead, through their unique ways of resistance, they choose to take autonomy over their desires into their own hands.
Against a backdrop of love, longing, desires, and self-discovery, Joyland delves into the complexities of sexuality and enforced gender roles, followed by the inevitable resistance that emerges out of oppression.
Age 15+
